Menicon Co., Ltd  is pleased to share the results of a new peer review paper<\/a> that provides further support towards the safety of Menicon Bloom NightTM<\/sup> lenses for slowing myopia progression in children.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Menicon Bloom NightTM<\/sup> contact lens is the overnight lens wear offering for myopia management included in Menicon BloomTM<\/sup> Myopia Control Management System<\/a>, a holistic approach for myopia control management. Menicon Bloom NightTM<\/sup> is a CE-approved contact lens for the correction of refractive myopia and for myopia control, and is available in two different contact lens designs: Menicon Bloom Night\u2122 and Menicon Bloom Night\u2122 Toric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results from this new study, after being presented at various conferences worldwide, became available in full since June 20th<\/sup>, 2024 as ahead of print in Contact Lens and Anterior Eye, the peer review journal of the British Contact Lens Association. The study, entitled \u2018A new look at the myopia control efficacy of orthokeratology<\/em>\u2019, is available for free via Open Access<\/a>. By pooling together data from three prospective studies, this new paper was able to identify several key findings related to the efficacy of overnight wear of Menicon Bloom NightTM <\/sup>lenses in slowing myopia progression. Well in line with results reported in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, this study found that the use of these lenses provides a mean 2-years reduction in the axial elongation of the eye of 0.24mm in comparison to distance, single-vision spectacle lens wear, with over 60% of the treatment effect being obtained during the first year of treatment. The myopia control efficacy of Menicon Bloom NightTM <\/sup>lenses was found to be independent of the patient\u2019s age, gender, baseline refractive error and ethnicity indicating that their use provide similar levels of effectiveness in slowing myopia progression regardless of these factors. Finally, the study was able to quantify and categorize different levels of myopia control efficacy associated with orthokeratology contact lens wear. Although Menicon Bloom NightTM<\/sup> lenses can successfully correct refractive error in most subjects (within the indications for use of the device), these lenses were somehow effective and not effective at all for myopia control in 75% and 25% of the lens wearers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
